- Provide leadership and expertise to the University of Utah community in evaluating, promoting, and enhancing the experiences of postdoctoral scholars and their faculty mentors
- Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas regarding the postdoctoral training experience at the University of Utah
- Examine University of Utah data on number of postdoctoral scholars and demographics, current University policies affecting postdoctoral scholars, and relationship/relevance to nationally-available data/reports on state of affairs for postdoctoral scholars
- Provide guidance on issues of local campus importance based on national importance to postdoctoral scholars
- Provide guidance on and prioritization of professional programs development
