Lunch and Learn: CV to Resume

Topic: CV-to-Resume

Date: March 15th, 2017

Invited Speaker:

Francine Mahak, Career Counselor, Graduate Students in Science and Engineering

Summary:

In this month’s Lunch & Learn Francine Mahak, from Career Services, provided a comprehensive comparison between CVs and resumes. While a postdoc’s academic environment may be an important resource when building a CV, to create a competitive resume it is highly recommended to work with a career coach. The most important point to keep in mind is that the 1-2 page resume needs to be tailored to the position that you are applying for, showing how you fit to that position. You will find more detailed information in the uploaded files (Francine’s power point presentation and two resumes examples).

Please remember that Alumni Career Services offers many resources for postdocs: weekly Job Club, Saturday workshops, webinars and coaching appointments. You can learn how to became a member of the Alumni Association here, and can contact Amy Gleason (agleason@sa.utah.edu) with questions.
