Panel Discussion on Effective Mentee-ship

Our distinguished Graduate School Mentor Award recipients shared tips about what makes a mentoring relationship work:

  • Dr. Pearl Sandick, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Science.
  • Dr. William Smith, Professor of Ethnic Studies in the School of Cultural and Social Transformation, Chair of the Education, Culture & Society Department in the College of Education.
  • Dr. Joseph Yost, Professor of Neurobiology and Anatomy, Vice Chairman for Basic Science Research in the Department of Pediatrics.

2-3pm, through ZOOM.

Social Event – DESK YOGA

A short sequence designed to stretch the neck, upper spine, shoulders, and wrists after a day of desk work. Postdoc Liz Fidak, our instructor says it is a beginner-friendly and no Sanskirt is required !!

4-5pm, through ZOOM.

Social Event – ORIGAMI

Postdoc Mai Tran introduced us to the ancient art of Origami to create a stylish container to hold those perky paper clips. If time supports we will create more items.
Materials required: Letter size paper (one-sided color or pattern is recommended but not required. One can download & print your favorite color/pattern here), extra letter-size paper and extra enthusiasm !!

5-6pm, through ZOOM.
